Carteret County Board of Commisioners 2008 Meeting Schedule
The
Board of Commissioners consists of 7 members elected for staggered,
4-year terms. Each Commissioner is elected county-wide, but
must reside within the boundaries of one of 6 districts. One
Commissioner is elected from each district, with the exception
of District 3, which elects two members to the Board of Commissioners. District

The Board of Commissioners 2007 meeting schedule is listed above. Regular meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. and are held in the Commissioners’ Boardroom located on the second floor of the Administration Building, Courthouse Square, in Beaufort, N.C. Public comment is allowed at all regular meetings. Board meetings are broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 10 in Carteret County on the Tuesday (8:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 noon) following the Monday Board meeting. Pete Allen was born and raised in Louisburg, North Carolina in 1941 and graduated from the University of Miami, Florida in 1964 with a BBA Degree in Marketing, Finance and Economics. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was in sales, insurance and the retail business until 1992. He has served as Mayor, Administrator, Manager, and Commissioner for the Town of Emerald Isle and as Carteret County Manager and Manager for the Town of Atlantic Beach for more than two decades. He has served on many local organizations Board of Directors and founded the Crystal Coast Mayors' Association.

He retired on medical disability in 2002 and remains active in his community by serving as a Lay Leader of St. James United Methodist Church, a volunteer for Newport Meals on Wheels, a member of Carteret County Crossroads, and a member of the Section 8 Resident Advisory Committee for Coastal Community Action.
